Arroyo confined in hospital due to pinched nerve

MANILA, Philippines – Former president and now Pampanga Representative Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo is now confined in a hospital for cervical radiculopathy or pinched nerve.

Arroyo postponed her scheduled June 17-18 meeting and press briefing with reporters at the House of Representatives after complaining of pain in the neck.

Elena Bautista-Horn, her spokesperson, has declined from naming the hospital where Arroyo has been confined but said that her condition was not life threatening.

Horn said cervical radiculopathy, in layman’s term, is pinched nerve due to disc disease.

She said Arroyo would be discharged in the hospital in a few days to undergo physical therapy.
