MANILA, Philippines — The low pressure area (LPA) east of Mindanao may enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) by Saturday night or Sunday, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
According to Pagasa weather specialist Robb Gile, the LPA was spotted 1,435 kilometers east of Mindanao at 3 a.m. Saturday.
“Inaasahan na papasok sa Philippine area of responsibility ang nasabing weather disturbance posibleng mamayang gabi o bukas. Bagama’t hindi pa nakakaapekto sa lagay ng panahon ng bansa, ang trough or extension nito ay possible nang magdulot ng pag-ulan sa susunod na 24 hours sa bahagi ng Eastern Visayas at eastern portion ng Mindanao,” he said in a weather forecast.
While the LPA is not likely to develop into a tropical depression, Gile said it may cause rainy weather in the central and southern portions of the country from Monday to Wednesday.
According to Pagasa’s forecast, the trough of the LPA may also bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms to the Caraga and Eastern Visayas this Saturday.
Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Aurora, and Quezon, meanwhile, will experience cloudy skies with rains due to the northeast monsoon or “amihan” and the shear line.
Pagasa said the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to localized thunderstorms.
