SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — One of the five hospitals treating COVID-19 patients in this province is now at a critical level as more residents are getting infected with the viral disease, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed Friday (Jan. 21).

All 26 COVID-19 ward beds of Allied Care Experts (ACE) Medical Center – Baypointe Inc., inside the Subic Freeport, have been occupied. Five of the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) beds are also currently being used.

DOH data also showed that Sta. Cecilia Medical Center in the capital town of Iba is under moderate level status as two of its eight ward beds are still vacant.

The status of the three other hospitals remained at a safe level. These are Pres. Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital, the main quarantine facility in the province, Candelaria District Hospital and San Marcelino District Hospital.

Zambales has recorded 10,611 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic broke out in 2020 with 400 active cases, 9,979 recoveries and 614 deaths.
