OLONGAPO CITY—Two major vaccination sites in this city were closed on Jan. 21, after several healthcare workers were exposed to and started showing symptoms of COVID-19.

The City Health Office (CHO) announced that the mass vaccinations at the Columban College and SM Central were suspended Friday due to the possible infection of healthcare workers, who facilitated the inoculation recently.

The CHO said the frontliners were waiting for the results of their reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction test. Vaccination will resume Monday, Jan. 24.

On Thursday, 14 frontliners from the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office tested positive for COVID-19.

The city had 581 active cases Thursday, with 94 new infections and 100 recoveries.

A 62-year-old woman had died of the viral disease and was the city’s 321st death so far.
