MANILA, Philippines — At least around 14,000 more workers have lost their jobs since the start of the year after Metro Manila and nearby areas returned to Alert Level 3 restrictions.
The Department of Labor and Employment said at least 13,930 workers became unemployed from Jan. 1 to Jan. 15. Of these, 11,586 workers in 759 establishments lost their jobs because they were retrenched or their workplace closed.
