TUGUEGARAO CITY — A magnitude 5.2 earthquake rattled the island-town of Itbayat in Batanes province early Wednesday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said.
The quake was tectonic in origin and struck 31 kilometers northeast of Itbayat around 3:10 a.m.
Nilda Garcia, Itbayat municipal disaster risk-reduction and management officer, said no damage or injuries had been reported.
Villagers in the area were cautioned against possible aftershocks.
