MANILA, Philippines — Eastern Visayas, Central Visayas, and Caraga are expected to have cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms due to the shear line, the weather bureau said Tuesday.
In its 24-hour monitoring, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the shear line will be affecting the eastern section of Visayas and the northeast monsoon or “amihan” will affect Luzon and the rest of Visayas.
A shear line is a line or narrow zone across which there is an abrupt change in the horizontal wind component parallel to this line.
Partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains are expected over Mindanao due to localized thunderstorms.
Pagasa warned of possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains or severe thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains brought about by the northeast monsoon but Pagasa said this will have no significant impact.
Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Visayas is expected to experience moderate to strong winds in the northeast direction, along with moderate to rough coastal waters (2.8 to 4.0 meters).
For the rest of the country, Pagasa said moderate to strong winds will occur, coupled with moderate to rough sea conditions (1.2 to 3.4 meters).
