MANILA, Philippines — At least 100 personnel of the Philippine Ports Authority’s (PPA) head office in Manila City are under isolation after contracting COVID-19, General Manager Jay Daniel Santiago said on Tuesday.
Santiago noted that the 131 coronavirus-infected employees are either asymptomatic or mild cases.
“Sa ngayon po, nasa 131 pa rin po ang ating active COVID cases dito po sa head office po ng Philippine Ports Authority sa Manila,” he said during the Laging Handa briefing.
(Currently, we have 131 active COVID cases in our head office of the Philippine Ports Authority in Manila.)
(Fortunately, our 131 positive cases, if not asymptomatic, are very mild and they are just in isolation.)
With this, the PPA official said they will maintain a skeleton staff in their head office for now but assured that they are conducting regular operations.
(We are under a skeletal workforce in our head office but we assure our fellow citizens, especially those transacting at the Port of Manila, that operations are regular.)
(Our operations personnel, fortunately, are not affected and all of them are vaccinated. Meanwhile, around 91 percent of our PPA personnel are immunized.)
