104 new COVID-19 cases recorded in Olongapo

OLONGAPO CITY — At least 104 new cases of COVID-19 were logged in this city on Sunday, its highest single-day increase so far since the pandemic started in 2020.

Latest data from the local task force showed that the new infections raised the number of active cases to 634, also among its highest in the last four months.

Among new cases were a 4-month-old baby girl, six kids aged 1 to 14, and nine senior citizens aged 60 to 90.

Most of the new patients are fully vaccinated against the disease. Thirty one are asymptomatic while others showed some symptoms of the disease such as fever, cough, colds, sore throat, headache and body pain.

Since 2020, the city recorded 6,100 COVID-19 cases, 5,147 of which already recovered and 319 died.

At least 157,296 residents or 86.42 of the target population are fully vaccinated against the disease.

The city needs to vaccinate 182,000 of its 260,000-population to achieve herd immunity.
