MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and rain showers will prevail in parts of the country on Sunday due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan and the shear line, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The “amihan” will cause cloudy skies with light rains over Cagayan Valley, Bicol region, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Aurora, Mountain Province, and Quezon.
Meanwhile, the shear line will dump scattered rain showers and thunderstorms over Mindanao.
The rest of the country, including Metro Manila, will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains likewise due to the “amihan”.
Pagasa raised a gale warning over the eastern seaboard of southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao.
“Kaya’t pinapayuhan pa rin po natin ‘yung mga kababayan po nating mangingisda lalong-lalo na po ‘yung gumagamit ng mga maliliit na sasakyang pandagat, iwasan po munang pumalaot,” Pagasa weather specialist Samuel Duran said.
(We are advising fishermen, especially those using a small vessesl, to avoid venturing out at sea.)
Pagasa also said it is not monitoring any weather disturbance inside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).
“Sa kasalukuyan, wala po tayong binabantayan na low pressure area o bagyo sa loob po ng ating PAR,” Duran said.
(Currently, there is no low pressure area or tropical cyclone inside PAR.)
