DepEd declares 5-day academic break in Oriental Mindoro

CITY OF CALAPAN — The Department of Education (DepEd) in Oriental Mindoro declared an academic break from January 17 to 22 in all public elementary and secondary schools due to the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in the province, according to its announcement on Friday, January 14.

The break is also meant to allow all personnel and learners in the division to ensure their health and safety during this period, the agency said.

As of January 14, the province reported 88 new confirmed active COVID-19 cases.

Since the pandemic broke out in 2020, the province has reported a total of 10,499 COVID cases, with 9,459 recoveries and 549 deaths.
