CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga – Gov. Dennis Pineda on Wednesday (Jan. 12) asked municipal governments to roll out COVID-19 vaccines by administering these in the comfort of vehicles (drive-thru) to reach more unvaccinated residents.

Pineda made this request during a meeting with mayors at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in this city, after considering the rate of vaccination in the province. The drive-thru service has been available at the Mexico isolation facility for a month now.

The Pampanga Health Office (PHO) said the number of Pampanga residents who have received first and second doses of vaccines totaled 1,945,253 as of Jan. 10.

Based on the 70-percent target population, those with the first dose comprised 82.38 percent, while those with two doses comprised 73.41 percent.

Of this figure, only 106,232 people have so far availed themselves of booster shots, which were given a month ago, according to the PHO.

For infected people, who opted for home care, Pineda imposed home lockdowns on them and their relatives for 10 days.

As of Wednesday, the PHO reported 597 new cases from people who tested positive through the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction, bringing the active cases to 2,960.
