COVID-19 hits 133 Coast Guard personnel
MANILA, Philippines — At least 133 Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) personnel at the national headquarters in Manila have tested positive for COVID-19.
The PCG officers and personnel are in quarantine after testing positive, the PCG said Thursday.
The Office of the Deputy Chief of Coast Guard Staff for Comptrollership (CG-6), Coast Guard Public Affairs, and Coast Guard Finance Service were placedoin temporary lockdown from Jan. 10 to 14 due to high COVID-19 cases.
Deployed PCG personnel infected with COVID-19 were not included in the released figures.
The Philippines is experiencing a rapid increase in COVID-19 cases in recent days due to the highly transmissible Omicron variant.
