Ilocos Norte’s daily COVID-19 cases rise to over 150
SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union—The number of new COVID-19 cases in Ilocos Norte province rose to more than 150 on Tuesday, Jan. 11, nearly doubling its previous highest single-day tally recorded on Jan. 8, data from the provincial government showed.
Of the 153 new cases, at least 39 had been traced to Batac City, followed by Laoag City (33), and the towns of Vintar (15), Sarrat (9), Bacarra (8), Badoc (8), Nueva Era (7), and Banna (6), the same data showed,
Tagged as COVID-19 “red zone,” the capital city of Laoag had 48 active COVID-19 cases, the provincial government said.
Ilocos Norte’s average daily attack rate on Tuesday was 4.05 per 100,000 population, up from 2.26 on Sunday, the Department of Health tracker shows.
Since the pandemic began, the province had tallied 19,400 total COVID-19 cases, 18,477 recoveries, and 489 deaths.
At least 24 healthcare workers in Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital in Batac City, a primary COVID-19 referral center in the province, had been isolated as of Jan. 11, after they contracted the disease.

Fourteen more patients suspected to have COVID-19 were admitted to the hospital, the report showed. INQ
