MANILA, Philippines — Malacañang expressed worry on Tuesday over the alleged hacking of Commission on Elections (Comelec) servers.
“We will await any update to be pronounced by Comelec regarding this. Syempre, nababahala rin kami (Of course, we are concerned). Obviously, we’re also worried about this kung totoo man ito (if this is true),” acting presidential spokesperson and Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said during the Palace briefing.
According to a Manila Bulletin article on Monday, hackers were allegedly able to breach Comelec servers and stole files including usernames and PINS of vote-counting machines.
The poll body questioned the accuracy of the report and has started validating the allegations.
“As for the rest of the allegations made, please note that the article offers scant substantiation for its assertions despite claiming that the authors had ‘verified that there was an ongoing hack,’” Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez said in a statement.

Jimenez this morning said that they will come up with a final report this week on the incident.
