QC lifts mandatory use of face shields – except under Alert Level 5

MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Council has lifted the mandatory use of face shields, now only requiring it in medical facilities and high-risk areas.

The mandatory use of face shields was lifted through Ordinance No. 3079, S-2022, approved on Jan. 6, 2022.

Under the ordinance, the use of face shields is not mandatory in public places and will only be required under Alert Level 5.

This is in accordance with the IATF (Inter-Agency Task Force) protocols and the national government‘s memorandum nixing the mandatory use of face shields in areas under Alert Levels 1, 2, and 3.

Meanwhile, for areas under Alert Level 4, local government units and private establishments have the discretion whether to still require the use of face shields or not.

Metro Manila, which Quezon City is a part of, is currently under Alert Level 3 due to the exponential rise of COVID-19 cases.
