4 PDLs ‘seriously wounded’ in Caloocan City Jail riot

A riot took place in the Caloocan City Jail on Monday afternoon, leaving four persons deprived of liberty “seriously hurt,” said the BJMP.

MANILA, Philippines — A riot took place in the Caloocan City Jail on Monday afternoon, leaving four persons deprived of liberty (PDL) “seriously hurt,” said the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).

BJMP spokesperson Xavier Solda said in a statement that the riot happened at around 4 p.m.

“Special Tactics and Response Team of NCR immediately proceeded in the area including personnel from PNP Northern Police District,” Solda said.

“After it was pacified, 4 PDLs were seriously injured,” he added.

The cause of the riot has yet to be revealed, but Solda said that BJMP chief Jail Director Allan Iral has already ordered an investigation, with additional personnel deployed in the facility.

Due to this, Caloocan City Jail will remain under heightened alert status.
