MANILA, Philippines — Even as the northeast monsoon, locally known as the “amihan,” is forecast to intensify in the following days, generally fair weather is expected to continue throughout the country on Tuesday, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).
The strengthened amihan, however, will bring colder weather in parts of Luzon especially during the early morning, said Pagasa weather specialist Ana Clauren.
“Asahan na bahagyang lalakas ‘yung ating amihan kung saan posibleng umabot po ito hanggang sa bahagi ng Central Luzon, kaya asahan din po natin diyan ‘yung maaliwalas na panahon at may mga posibilidad lamang po ng isolated light rains o ‘yung mga pagambon dala nga ng amihan,” said Clauren.
(Expect that the northeast monsoon will slightly strengthen, possibly reaching as far as Central Luzon, so expect clear weather there and possibilities of isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon.)
“Sa Metro Manila at sa nalalabing bahagi ng Luzon, magiging maaliwalas pa rin ‘yung ating panahon bukas at may tiyansa lamang po ng mga panandaliang buhos ng pag-ulan pagdating po yan ng hapon at gabi dulot ng mga localized thunderstorms,” Clauren added.
(In Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon, weather will still be clear tomorrow with only a chance of short-term rains during the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorms.)
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather will prevail in Visayas and Mindanao, but short-term rain showers are likewise expected in the afternoon and evening due to localized thunderstorms.
Clauren also said that no low pressure area or storms are expected to enter the country’s area of responsibility in the next three to five days.
Temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Tuesday:
- Metro Manila: 22 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Baguio City: 13 to 23 degrees Celsius
- Laoag City: 21 to 30 degrees Celsius
- Tuguegarao: 21 to 30 degrees Celsius
- Legazpi City: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Puerto Princesa City: 24 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Tagaytay: 20 to 29 degrees Celsius
- Kalayaan Islands: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
- Iloilo City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Cebu: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Tacloban City: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius
- Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 30 degrees Celsius
- Zamboanga City: 23 to 34 degrees Celsius
- Davao City: 25 to 33 degrees Celsius
No gale warning is also raised but moderate to rough sea conditions are still expected in the seaboards of the eastern, northern and western sections of Luzon, said Clauren.
