MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila has extended until the end of March the deadline for filing of business permit renewals to prevent the “unnecessary influx” of applicants amid the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in the country.
The city government has approved a resolution that would extend the filing of the renewal of business permits until March 31, instead of Jan. 20, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso said in a Facebook livestream on Monday.
“Huwag na pong kabahan yung ating mga negosyante na baka sila ma-penalize at natatakot din yung iba nating negosyante na magsama-sama mag-create ng unnecessary influx ng tao,” Moreno said.
(Businesses should no longer fear that they may be penalized and some are also afraid of an unnecessary influx of people during the period of filing.)
“They have now ample time to file for the renewal of their business permit until March 31,” he added.
The extension of the filing deadline comes when the country has been logging record-high daily increases in COVID-19 cases in the past days.
On Monday, the Department of Health reported an all-time high increase in COVID-19 cases as it confirmed 33,169 additional infections in the country.
