1 dead, 2 hurt in Quezon road crash

LUCENA CITY––A motorcyclist died, and his two back-riders were seriously injured, in a road accident in Catananuan town in Quezon province on Sunday, a report said Monday.

The Catanauan police reported that motorcyclist Phillip Abenilla, 37, and his pillion riders, Jason Organo, 29, and Elmer Caparros, 25, were cruising the national road on the way to the town center when Abenilla lost control of the vehicle in Barangay Canculajao at 12:50 p.m.

The wayward motorcycle crashed into the concrete railing at the roadside, throwing the riders due to the impact.

The three suffered grave injuries and were taken to Bondoc Peninsula District Hospital at the town center, but Abenilla died on the way.

The back-riders were treated at the said hospital, but Caparros will be transferred to another medical facility in Lucena for further treatment.
