Low pressure areas threaten Visayas, Mindanao
MANILA, Philippines – Visayas and Mindanao will expect rains as two low pressure areas were seen east of Mindanao, the Philippine Atmospheric, geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Thursday.
In its latest weather forecast, Pagasa said that the first LPA was seen 150 kilometers east of Mindanao, while the other was sighted 610 kilometers east of Mindanao.
Visayas, Mindanao including Palawan will experience mostly cloudy skies scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, Pagasa said. Rains will become widespread over eastern and southern Mindanao which may trigger flash floods and landslides, the state-run weather bureau warned. The rest of Luzon will experience cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rains or thunderstorms, mostly in the afternoon or evening, Pagasa said.
“Moderate to strong winds blowing from Southwest to Southeast will prevail over Northern and Western Luzon, and coming from the Southwest to West over Mindanao,” Pagasa said. “The coastal waters along these areas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, winds will be light to moderate coming from Southeast with slight to moderate seas,” Pagasa added.
