MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) will close several roads leading to Quiapo on Sunday.
“This is to prevent the public from going to the Quiapo area due to [the] cancellation of the traslacion. Online Masses will be made available,” the MMDA said in its Saturday advisory.
Last year, thousands of devotees still went to Quiapo to show their faith on the Black Nazarene, despite the threat of COVID-19.
Fr. Douglas Badong, parochial vicar of the Minor Basilica of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, said online Masses would be held instead of the Traslacion, and would be streamed on the social media page of the Quiapo parish.
