MANILA, Philippines — President Rodrigo Duterte has issued a proclamation reserving a parcel of land within the Alabang Stock Farm in Muntinlupa City for the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) building.
In signing Proclamation No. 1276 on Thursday, Duterte said he “hereby withdraw[s] from entry, sale or other form of disposition a certain parcel of patrimonial land within the Alabang Stock Farm… and reserve the same for the [RITM] Building Site, and transfer ownership of said property in favor of the Department of Health – RITM.”
The area covers around 9,077 square meters, according to the proclamation released to the media on Saturday.
“The DENR (Department of Environment and Natural Resources) Secretary is hereby authorized to execute a Deed of Conveyance, transferring the ownership of the above-described property in favor of the DOH-RITM, for building site purposes,” the document read.
The RITM is the government agency tasked to plan and implement research programs for infectious and tropical diseases in the country.
It is also a center for health research using the tools available in epidemiology, clinical medicine supported by microbiology, parasitology, public health, virology, immunology, molecular biology, pathology and behavioral or social science.
