MANILA, Philippines — Another returning Filipina from abroad who violated the country’s COVID-19 quarantine policy has been slapped with a complaint by the government.

The Philippine National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) said Friday that a case was filed against the Filipina on Thursday afternoon for violating Republic Act No. 11332 or the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.

The Filipina who returned to the country from the United States avoided quarantine requirements upon arrival on December 21, 2021, according to the PNP-CIDG citing the incident report received by the Task Group on Management of Overseas Filipino Workers from a hotel in Makati City.

Investigation showed that instead of taking her arranged shuttle ride from the airport to her assigned quarantine facility – a hotel in Makati City, she took an airport taxi and went straight to her condo unit in Bonifacio Global City in Taguig City.

The PNP-CIDG said the Filipina stayed in her condo unit from December 22 to January 4 — going out of her residence on several occasions.

At one point, authorities noted, the Filipina even availed massage services.

This is the second reported case of a returning overseas Filipino skipping quarantine protocols.

Before this, another Filipina who returned from the United States avoided quarantine requirements and attended a party in Makati City. The Filipina’s COVID-19 test later yielded a positive result.
