Agriculture Secretary William Dar tests positive for COVID-19

The DA has signed a memorandum of agreement with the Asia Pacific College to strengthen the department's IT development program.

MANILA, Philippines — Agriculture Secretary William Dar has tested positive for COVID-19.

In a tweet Friday, Dar said he is experiencing mild symptoms and is currently in quarantine.

“I wish to inform the public that I tested positive for COVID with mild symptoms, and am currently recovering while in quarantine. I will continue to discharge my duties and responsibilities in the Department of Agriculture,” Dar said.

The Department of Health (DOH) reported on Friday the infection of 21,819 more people, the highest single-day increase since September 18 last year.

The fresh infections pushed the country’s tally to over 2.9 million, of which 77,369 are active cases.
