CAMP GEN. ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan—At least 24 police border control points were put up at various boundaries that Bulacan province shares with Metro Manila, Pampanga, and Nueva Ecija as part of heightened restrictions against COVID-19.
Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., Bulacan police director, said 112 policemen and force multipliers had been deployed to the 17 provincial boundaries between Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Malabon City, Quezon City, Nueva Ecija and Pampanga, and seven more along the North Luzon Expressway.
Lukban said only the residents providing basic services, essential needs, necessary items, utilities, and other authorized personnel who can present vaccination cards would be allowed to enter and exit the province’s borders.
Bulacan’s active COVID-19 cases rose to 1,855 as of Thursday from only 58 active cases on Dec. 27 last year. The province shifted to stricter alert level 3 from Jan. 5 to 15 due to a spike in infections.
