Indonesia cleric Bashir awaits terrorism verdict
JAKARTA, Indonesia — The verdict in the terrorism trial of radical Indonesian cleric Abu Bakar Bashir is being read at a Jakarta court amid high security.
Bashir, 72, is accused of helping to organize and fund a jihadi training camp in westernmost Aceh province.
A judge in the case said Thursday that prosecutors are demanding that Bashir receive a sentence of life in prison.
