Pampanga’s capital logs 128 new COVID-19 cases in 1 day

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Within 10 days, active COVID-19 cases in the City of San Fernando soared to 233 after it registered 128 new patients on Thursday, Jan. 6.

Sindalan village recorded the highest number of new infections, adding 16 cases to the capital city’s COVID-19 tally. It was followed by Dolores and San Agustin villages, which recorded 14 new cases each.

Data showed that 29 of the capital city’s 35 villages were infected with COVID-19 as of Thursday. No new recoveries and deaths were registered on the same day.

A day earlier, San Fernando recorded 48 new cases.

Since the pandemic started in 2020, the city has recorded 11,517 cases, of which 10,956 had recovered, and 328 had died.

Pampanga is among the several localities that the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases placed under the more stringent Alert Level 3 from Jan. 9 to 15.
