MANILA, Philippines — Marikina City 2nd District Rep. Stella Luz Quimbo has tested positive for coronavirus, the virus that causes COVID-19.

Rep. Quimbo made the announcement Thursday, saying she is currently in isolation while experiencing cough, colds, and fever.

“Talagang walang pinipili ang virus at itong bagong strain ay sinasabing mas mabilis na kumalat nga,” Quimbo said in a video posted on Twitter.

(The virus does not choose targets and this strain is said to be more transmissible.)

Aside from her, the lawmaker said her husband, former House Deputy Speaker Miro Quimbo, also tested positive for COVID-19.

Rep. Quimbo said that in her fight against COVID-19, she realized there is not enough information on how to do actual home care for COVID-19 patients.

“Napaisip ako kung ano nga ba ang tamang protocols at home care guidelines para sa mga katuad namin na mild symptoms ang nararanasan. Tingin ko, importanteng paksa itong home care guidelines at paano ang pagself-isolate,” Rep. Quimbo said.

(It made me think about the proper protocols and home care guidelines for those experiencing mild symptoms. I think, the topic of home care guidelines is important to be discussed including protocols on self-isolation.)

“Ito ay makakatulong din sa ating mga hospitals at frontliners na mas makapahgfocus sa mas mangangailangan ng hospital care,” she added.

(This will help hospitals and frontliners for them to focus on those who need hospital care.)
