MANILA, Philippines — The Office of the Ombudsman on Agham Road in Quezon City will be closed from Jan. 7 to 12, due to an increase in COVID-19 infections among employees.
This was announced in an online advisory, adding that it has also instructed employees to adopt a work-from-home arrangement as permitted by civil service rules.
Meanwhile, the filing of pleadings, motions, affidavits, and other relevant documents in the Quezon City office shall then be deemed “interrupted” as the period of filing of such will begin to run the next working day.
Applicants for Ombudsman clearances, on the other hand, may still deposit their applications at drop boxes at the entrance gate of the Quezon City office.
This announcement came amid an exponential rise in COVID-19 cases in the country, which health experts attributed to the holiday revelry and the Omicron COVID-19 variant of concern.
Earlier, the Department of Health (DOH) reported 17,220 new COVID-19 cases, the highest the country has registered since Sept. 24, of last year.
