106% of NCR’s population protection target now fully vaxxed vs COVID
MANILA, Philippines — Around 10.4 million individuals or 106 percent of Metro Manila’s population protection target are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
“Sa ngayon po, ang nabakunahan po natin ay 106 percent na po, 10.4 million,” Metropolitan Manila Development Authority chairman Benhur Abalos said during President Rodrigo Duterte’s Talk to the People on Thursday.
(To date, we have vaccinated 106 percent, 10.4 million.)
Meanwhile, 11,147,904 individuals have received their first dose as of January 4, data presented by Abalos showed. This represents 113.75 percent of the target.
The chair also noted that the capital region is on track to achieve its goal of administering 763,986 booster doses this month.

On the other hand, local governments in Metro Manila are exerting more effort to inoculate the pediatric population or those aged 12 to 17.
“Sa pediatric, ito po ‘yung mga bata, ang target po rito is 1.4 million, nakaka-[919,975] na po tayo na first dose at 804,313 [for second dose],” Abalos noted.
(For the pediatric population, our target is 1.4 million. We have vaccinated 919,975 for the first dose and 804,313 for the second dose.)
“Double time pa rin po kami dito dahil talaga ang tanging solusyon dito, ang pinaka-solusyon ay ang pagbabakuna,” he continued.
(We are working double time because the solution to the pandemic is vaccination.)
Nationwide, about 51 million individuals are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 as of January 5, Department of Health data presented.
