MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Office (LTO) is extending by two months the validity of student permits, driver’s licenses, and conductor’s licenses expiring in January, February, and March this year.
In an advisory posted on its official Facebook page, the LTO said it decided to extend the validity of those permits and licenses in consideration of the prevailing surge in COVID-19 cases that could affect the operation of its branches.
“EXTENDED ng dalawang buwan ang validity ng Student Permit, Driver’s License, Conductor’s License at maging ang mga Medical Certficate na orihinal na mageexpire sa mga buwan ng Enero, Pebrero at Marso,” the LTO’s advisory states.
(The validity of the Student Permit, Driver’s License, Conductor’s License, and even the Medical Certificates that will originally expire in the months of January, February, and March have been EXTENDED by two months.)

Specifically, permits and licenses that are set to expire in January will have their validity extended until March 31, 2022, while those expiring in February will be valid until April 30, 2022, and those expiring in March will remain valid until May 31, 2022.
The country is currently facing notable increases in fresh COVID-19 infections following the holidays and which some experts believe could be due to the presence of the Omicron coronavirus variant.
Metro Manila is currently on COVID-19 Alert Level 3, along with other nearby provinces.
