MANILA, Philippines — Colder weather should be expected in Luzon over the next few days due to the northeast monsoon, locally known as the “amihan,” said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa).

“Itong ating amihan ay inaasahan natin over the weekend ay bababa muli at makakaapekto dito sa Luzon area na posible magdulot pa rin ng malalamig na panahon itong mga darating na araw,” said Pagasa weather specialist Raymond Ordinario.

(We expect the northeast monsoon to affect Luzon again over the weekend which is likely to still cause cold weather in the coming days.)

“Kaya ibayong paghahanda ang ating ipinapayo sa ating mga kababayan lalo na ngayon at kalat pa rin itong mga cold weather illnesses na nararanasan ng ating mga kababayan especially dito sa Luzon area,” he added.

(So we advise the public to be more prepared especially now that cold weather illnesses are prevalent here in the Luzon area.)

Meanwhile, generally clear skies are expected over the majority of the country on Friday, including Metro Manila, yet chances of isolated light rains are still possible throughout these parts.

Bicol Region and Eastern Visayas, on the other hand, will experience cloudy skies with widespread rain showers and thunder.

Ordinario also said that no tropical cyclones are expected to enter or form within the country’s area of responsibility in the next three days.

Temperature range in key cities/areas according to Pagasa for Friday:

Metro Manila: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
Baguio City: 13 to 23 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  21 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 20 to 29 degrees Celsius
