Aurora sees slight uptick in COVID-19 cases

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga–Aurora recorded five new COVID-19 cases, the province’s emergency operations center disclosed on Wednesday, Jan. 5.

In its latest bulletin, the provincial government said the new patients are residents of Maria Aurora town (3), the capital town of Baler (1), and Dingalan (1).

Aurora now has seven active cases – three in Maria Aurora, two in Baler, and one each in Casiguran and Dingalan.

The towns of Dilasag, Dinalungan, Dipaculao, and San Luis remained free of COVID-19 as of Wednesday. No recoveries and deaths were recorded on the same day.

Data showed that the province had registered 3,646 cases since the pandemic began in 2020. Of these, 3,405 had recovered, while 234 had died.

As of Wednesday, the provincial government said 109,376, or 46.4 percent of its total population of 235,750 (based on the 2020 census), were fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

Some 19,777 other individuals had received the initial dose of the vaccines and were still waiting for their second dose.
