MIDSAYAP, Cotabato–Anti-narcotics agents killed a suspected drug peddler during a drug buy-bust operation Wednesday, Jan. 5, after allegedly resisting arrest.
Director Naravy Duquiatan of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in Region 12 said the suspect, Jacky Guimba, 55, was to sell shabu or crystal meth to an undercover agent when he sensed he was dealing with law enforcers.
The buy-bust operation happened around 4 p.m. Wednesday at Barangay Salunayan in this town.
Kath Abad of PDEA-12 told a local radio station that Guimba pulled his pistol and traded shots with PDEA personnel, backed up by soldiers of the Army’s 34th Infantry Battalion and personnel of the Midsayap municipal police station.
After the short skirmish, authorities found 10 huge sachets of suspected crystal meth weighing about 500 grams, worth about P3.4 million.
Also seized were a caliber-45 pistol and a motorbike.
Found from Guimba was an identification card that supposedly accords him membership to the Moro Islamic Liberation Front in Barangay Pamalian, Shariff Saidona Mustapha town in Maguindanao.
Duquiatan said Guimba had been monitored to be supplying prohibited drugs to clients in the provinces of Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and Maguindanao.
