City gov’t to pay health center’s P50-T electric bill

TO ensure that the Parian health center remains lighted, Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama agreed that the city will shoulder its accumulated electricity bill amounting to about P50,000.

But Rama said he wanted an agreement entered with Parian officials stating that the  payment only covers the health center’s and its nearby satellite office’s electricity bill.

“We will pay (the electric bill) because the city is willing to pay. But I will have a MOA aron maklaro,” the mayor said in a press conference yesterday.

The Visayan Electric Co. sent demand letters asking barangay Parian to settle the health center’s P5,000 bill, which accumulated during the last 10 months.

Mayor Rama, who met with Parian barangay officlas last Monday afternoon,  said he does not want to see the health center dark as it delivers health care and located across a heritage monument.

Rama said the government plans to build a police station near the health center. He said he wanted the police station to have its own power connection to avoid adding to the health center’s payables./chief of reporters doris bongcac
