MANILA, Philippines — The Pasay City General Hospital (PCGH) reached its full capacity on Wednesday and will stop accepting all patients — COVID or non-COVID.
“We are already full capacity for our COVID confirmed ICU beds, ward beds, ER isolation rooms and ER anteroom,” the hospital management said in an announcement posted on Facebook by the Pasay City Public Information Office.
“We wish to inform the public that we cannot accept any more admissions for severe and critical COVID-19 patients,” it added.
Even non-COVID patients would not be accepted as the hospital is already short-handed, with 44 of its healthcare workers — mostly nurses and ancillary personnel — are either infected with COVID-19 or are in isolation.
“Only extreme emergency or life-threatening surgical procedures will be accepted,” the management said.
All consultations will also be conducted through telemedicine, while vaccination programs will also be postponed for the next 10 days.
“Once our HCWs [healthcare workers] recover we will resume our normal operations,” the hospital said.
The country is currently facing an exponential rise in COVID-19 infections, which was attributed by health officials to the holiday celebrations and the presence of the highly contagious Omicron variant.
Metro Manila is on Alert Level 3 until Jan. 15, along with Rizal, Bulacan, Cavite, and Laguna.
