Mark Villar vows to continue Luzon Spine Expressway Network Program

Former Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Secretary Mark A. Villar has vowed to continue the Luzon Spine Expressway Network (LSEN), a priority program under the Build Build Build infrastructure program of Duterte administration.

“Despite the challenges brought by the COVID-19 pandemic, the DPWH continues to work in order to realize the completion of projects that will improve the connectivity of Luzon road network and to shorten the travel time in the country’s largest island,” Villar said.

Luzon Spine Expressway Network Program

Luzon Spine Expressway Network program is a set of high standard highways and expressways in Luzon seeking to improve the existing 382km of expressways to 905km aimed to reduce travel time between Ilocos and Bicol from 20 hours to nine hours.

“We will ensure that constructions of the big-ticket projects, most especially the Luzon Spine Expressway, are continuing and we guarantee its timely completion as planned. The accomplishment of key projects only proves that the Build Build Build program is significant to improving the accessibility of road networks in the greater Luzon area, while at the same time providing jobs to Filipinos amidst the pandemic,” Villar added.

Known projects completed under this program are the Tarlac-Pangasinan-La Union Expressway (TPLEX), NLEX Harbor Link C3-R10 Section, NLEX Harbor Link Segment 1, and NAIA Expressway Phase II among others.
