MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) is planning to hold another national COVID-19 vaccination day, this time for senior citizens.

“We are planning to put up a national vaccination day for the senior citizens,” DOH Secretary Francisco Duque III said during Wednesday’s Go Negosyo forum.

Duque also stressed the need for a “more aggressive” push for booster vaccination for this specific population.

The government held two three-day national vaccination drives in November and December 2021.

According to Duque, over 50.1 million have completed their vaccination against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, around 1.96 million booster doses have been administered as of Jan. 3 this year.

“We need to further encourage everyone to get their primary series or booster doses at the soonest possible time but baring in mind the prioritization framework ought to be followed,” the DOH chief said.
