Tropang Texters try to protect unbeaten record, may play without reinforcement today

5:15 p.m.- Petron vs. Air21

7:30 p.m.- B-Meg vs. Talk ‘N Text

The Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters will be hard-pressed to protect their unbeaten record as they are likely to play an import-less lineup against the formidable B-Meg Llamados in today’s main game of the 37th PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Araneta Coliseum.

The Texters could play with an all-Filipino crew after import Omar Samhan suffered a foot injury in the team’s 110-98 win over the Alaska Aces last Sunday.

The 6-foot-11 import was suspected to have suffered an ACL injury, which could take several weeks to heal.

Talk ‘N Text is tied at the no. 1 spot with the Powerade Tigers with 2-0 (win-loss) cards.

The other unbeaten team is the Air21 Express, which has a 1-0 card.

The Express will play the Petron Blaze Boosters in the first game.

With or without their import, the Texters still pose a big  threat for the B-Meg Llamados owing to their solid all-Filipino crew.

Talk ‘N Text, the reigning back-to-back Philippine Cup champions, will  rely on Jimmy Alapag, Jason Castro, Ranidel De Ocampo, Kelly Williams and shooter Larry Fonacier.

The Llamados won their first two games before dropping their last outing against the Boosters, 77-84.

That win installed the Boosters in the win column after faltering in their first two outings.
