MANILA, Philippines — Two churches in Manila City have been temporarily closed after their personnel contracted COVID-19.

Sta. Maria Goretti Parish in Paco and The National Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus in San Miguel were closed to the public for about two weeks, the church managements announced in separate statements.

Sta. Maria Goretti Parish was temporarily closed from January 3 to 15 while The National Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus halted its services from December 31 to January 14.

Both churches will undergo thorough disinfection and sanitation during the temporary closure.

The two churches have been live-streaming online masses through Facebook.

The temporary shutdown of the two churches ensued after two of Sta. Maria Goretti Parish’s staff and three personnel as well as a priest of National Shrine of St. Jude Thaddeus tested positive for coronavirus.
