Domingo resigns as FDA director general

Food and Drug Administration Director General Eric Domingo said that he is resigning from his post, effective January 3.

MANILA, Philippines — Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Director General Eric Domingo said that he is resigning from his post, effective January 3.

“I believe I did my part to help during the pandemic. The FDA is now stronger, more efficient and systems are in place. It’s time for me to move on to other things,” Domingo tells INQUIRER.net in a text message on Monday.

The Department of Health said that FDA Deputy Director General Dr. Oscar Gutierrez was assigned as officer in charge.

Domingo was one of the people responding to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic as the FDA is responsible for the approval of the vaccines’ emergency use authorization, among other responsibilities.
