Ilocos Norte logs 15 new COVID-19 cases
LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—At least 15 new cases were added to the COVID-19 tally of Ilocos Norte province in the first two days of 2022, data from the provincial government showed on Sunday, Jan. 2
Eight of the new cases were traced to the capital city of Laoag while the towns of Bangui and Sarrat logged three each. San Nicolas town registered one, the same data showed.
As of Sunday, Ilocos Norte had 27 active COVID-19 cases out of the 18,464 total infections recorded since the pandemic began, the provincial government said.
In Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center in Batac City, the primary COVID-19 referral facility in Ilocos Norte, a confirmed COVID-19 case and at least four suspected virus-infected patients were being treated as of Jan. 1.
The hospital announced on Dec. 31 that there would be no out-patient services under the Department of OB-Gyn on Jan. 3 “due to unforeseen events.”
Article continues after this advertisementIt would close the department’s clinic for “disinfection and contact tracing purposes,” the hospital said.
“We will also limit OB and Gyn admissions to extreme emergency cases and imminent deliveries,” it added.
