Suspect who stabbed cop dead killed in Batangas town
LUCENA CITY – A policeman and the suspect who stabbed him were both killed in an incident in Bauan town in Batangas province on Saturday, report said Sunday.
Bauan police reported that three cops responded to an attempted stabbing incident in Barangay (village) San Teodoro at around 10:45 a.m.
Upon arrival at the site, the police found the suspect Jollyben Montoya.
As Police Corporal Reynan Manalo approached Montoya, the suspect suddenly pulled a knife from his back and tried to stab the policeman who lost his balance and fell on the ground.
The cop managed to pull his firearm and shoot the suspect on his knee but Montoya was still able to stab Manalo on his chest.
The other policemen shot Montoya.
Manalo and Montoya were taken to Bauan Doctor’s General Hospital but Montoya died along the way.
Manalo expired while undergoing treatment 25 minutes later.
The report did not specify Montoya’s reason for his rampage.
