Seven out of 10 Filipinos approve of President Duterte’s performance amid the country’s fight with the COVID-19 pandemic and the forthcoming May 2022 presidential election, a recent Pulse Asia survey revealed.
In the “Ulat ng Bayan” nationwide survey conducted from Dec. 1 to Dec. 6 last year, Pulse Asia said that 72 percent of Filipinos approved of the President’s performance, 11 percent disapproved while 17 percent were undecided. It was an increase from his 64-percent approval rating on September.
Among the significant changes were the double-digit increases in the President’s approval in Metro Manila (77 percent from 65 percent) and in Mindanao (97 percent from 86 percent).
The survey used in-person interviews with 2,400 adult respondents. It had a margin of error of plus-or-minus 2 percentage points for national estimates and plus-or-minus 4 percentage points for each geographic area.
Vice President Leni Robredo obtained a 43-percent overall approval rating in the recent survey, with a big decline in the Visayas from 70 percent in September to 41 percent in December.
Meanwhile, Senate President Vicente Sotto III saw his approval remain virtually unchanged at 71 percent from 70 percent in September.
