Bulacan logs 32 new COVID-19 cases in 4 days

CITY OF MALOLOS–The province of Bulacan has recorded 32 new COVID-19 cases within four days, and local health authorities said the spike was expected due to the holiday gatherings.

Data from the provincial office showed that Bulacan had 58 active COVID-19 cases on Monday, Dec. 27. It rose to 70 on Tuesday and 80 the following day, before surging to 90 on Thursday.

Of the 90 active cases, four were admitted to hospitals, 17 were in quarantine facilities, and 69 were under home isolation.

Dr. Hijordis Marushka Celis, Bulacan COVID-19 task force vice-chair, said the increasing number of COVID-19 cases was due to the more relaxed restrictions on the movement of residents during the holiday season.

But Celis said the province remained at low risk, with a positivity rate of one percent.

She appealed to the public to comply with the minimum health protocols to avoid the viral disease in the New Year revelry.
