Manila boy scouts council gets new HQ
MANILA, Philippines — Manila Mayor Francisco Domagoso led on Wednesday the groundbreaking of the new headquarters for the Boy Scouts of the Philippines (BSP) Manila Council in Apolinario Mabini Elementary School in Quiapo to end its trouble of not having a permanent office.
The four-story building will consist of a boardroom that can accommodate 42 people, a control room, an office for the chair, the scout executive’s office, a finance office, a training hall/museum and a multipurpose hall.
According to Leonidas Son, BSP national training commissioner, the land lease of the BSP Manila Council with the local government expired in 2000 and the group’s executive board repeatedly requested for its renewal “but to no avail.”
Rodel Sampang, chair of the BSP Manila Council, gave assurance that the members of the organization will continue to help the youth in becoming better versions of themselves.
