LUCENA CITY––Work in provincial government offices in Quezon province will be suspended on Dec. 31 starting at noon to give employees time to prepare to welcome the New Year.
“In preparation for the New Year’s Day celebration and to give ample time for provincial government employees to enjoy the festivities with their families, work is suspended in all provincial government offices starting at noon on Dec. 31,” acting provincial administrator Geoff Lyn San Agustin said in Memorandum Circular No. 10 issued Dec. 29.
But the work suspension does not include personnel and offices engaged in health care, and disaster control and management services, according to the circular.
In February, Malacañang amended the list of holidays for 2021, declaring Nov. 2 (All Souls’ Day), Dec. 24 (Christmas Eve), and Dec. 31 (last day of the year) as “special working days.”
The move aims to help the country “recover from the adverse economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic” by encouraging economic productivity and “minimizing work disruption and commemorating some special holidays as special working days instead.”
