MANILA, Philippines — A shear line will continue to bring overcast skies and rain in most parts of the Visayas and Mindanao on Thursday the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said.
Meanwhile, Luzon will experience slightly fairer weather, but high chances of isolated rain remain. Cloudy weather is also expected in the eastern portions of Quezon and Aurora, as well as in Palawan.
“At dahil nga po doon sa ating shear line mananatiling maulap ang papawirin sa halos buong kabisayaan, especially itong eastern section ng Visayas, itong Samar-Leyte area at itong Caraga,” said Pagasa weather specialist Nikos Peñaranda.
(And because of the shear line, the sky will remain cloudy in almost the entire Visayas, especially in the eastern section of the Visayas, the Samar-Leyte area, and Caraga.)
“Kabilang po ang Surigao provinces and Agusan del Norte at itong Northern Mindanao mananatili po ang maulan na panahon at may mga periods po na may kalakasan ng ulan,” he added.
(Including Surigao provinces and Agusan del Norte and Northern Mindanao, the rainy season will remain and there will be periods of heavy rainfall.)
The southern and western portions of Mindanao will also experience thunderstorms especially in the afternoon, while cloudier weather is expected over Tawi-Tawi and Sulu, said Peñaranda.
