MANILA, Philippines — Casting himself as the underdog, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso on Monday said he remained upbeat about his chances of winning the presidency next year despite placing third in the latest voter preference polls.

The Aksyon Demokratiko standard-bearer said he would continue raising his recognizability and reaching as many people as possible among potential voters around the country.

“Well, thank you very much. At least, even if I’m such a lowly candidate, we are still there. We will push on,” the 47-year-old Domagoso said.

The most recent Pulse Asia survey conducted on Dec. 1 to Dec. 6 showed Domagoso and Sen. Manny Pacquiao in third place with a rating of 8 percent, trailing former Sen. Ferdinand Marcos Jr. and Vice President Leni Robredo.
